FRENCHTOWN — The Borough Council’s public safety committee presented a number of awards and citations to members of the community including firefighters and police officers. Commendations were bestowed during the Borough Council meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 7, primarily for outstanding service during Hurricane Irene and the other recent storms that hit the area.
Police personnel receiving citations include Chief Allan Kurylka; Patrolmen Paul Murphy, Harold Johnson and David Voll; Police Matron Jennifer Terepka; and Robert Winfield, who was also officially promoted from sergeant to lieutenant. Winfield also received a citation for his combat tour of duty in Vietnam.
Frenchtown Public Works Department personnel Michael Reino and Michael Roden received Honorable Service Award certificates for their dedication during the hurricane and other storms. James and David Cahill of River Net Computers received the same commendations.
